Resolution 2516 (2020)
The Security Council,
Reaffirming all its previous resolutions, presidential statements and press statements concerning the situation in Somalia, and underlining the importance of full compliance with and implementation of these,
Reaffirming its respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence, and unity of Somalia,
Emphasising the essential role of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) in supporting the Federal Government of Somalia and its Federal Member States through the provision of strategic advice and good offices, capacity building and the coordination of international partners’ support, and underscoring that this mandate is complementary to the mandates of AMISOM, the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS), and the United Nations Country Team in Somalia, and the support provided by the African Union and international partners,
1. Decides to extend until 30 June 2020 the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) as set out in paragraph 1 of resolution 2158 (2014), and further decides that UNSOM should continue to implement that mandate in accordance with resolution 2461 (2019);
2. Requests the Secretary-General to continue to keep the Security Council regularly informed on the implementation of this resolution, including through oral updates and written reports every 90 days as set out in resolution 2461(2019), with the next report due by 15 May 2020, on the situation on the ground and progress towards achieving key political benchmarks;
3. Decides to remain seized of this matter.
