Section 56 Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018

Section 56 of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 is about Right to legal representation. It is under Part VII (The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal) of the Act.

(1) Any party to a proceeding before the Tribunal may either appear in person or authorise one or more legal practitioners or any of its officers to represent the party before the Tribunal.

(2) Where a party or its representative is unable for good cause to attend a hearing before the Tribunal, the Tribunal may adjourn the hearing for such reasonable time as it deems fit, or admit the matter to be made by some other person or by way of a written address.
