Section 155 Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018
Section 155 of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2018 is about Contravention of consumer rights. It is under Part XVII (Enforcement of Consumers’ Rights) of the Act.
Except where otherwise provided for in this Act, any person who contravenes any consumer right commits an offence under this Act and –
(a) in the case of a natural person, is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years, or to payment of fine not exceeding NIO,OOO,OOO.OO or to both the fine and imprisonment;
(b) in the case of a body corporate, is liable on conviction to a fine of not less than NlOO,OOO,OOO.OO or 10% of its turnover in the preceding business year, whichever is higher; and
(c) in the case of a body corporate referred to in paragraph (b) of this section, each director of the body corporate is liable to be proceeded against and dealt with as specified in paragraph (a).
