Section 23 Child’s Right Act

Section 23 Child’s Right Act 2003 is about Punishment for child marriage and betrothal. It is under Part III (Protection of the Rights of a Child) of the Act.

A person‐
(a) who marries a child; or
(b) to whom a child is betrothed; or
(c) who promotes the marriage of a child; or
(d) who betroths a child,

commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine of N500,000; or imprisonment for a term of five
years or to both such fine and imprisonment.
