Section 251 Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020

Section 251 CAMA 2020

Section 251 Companies and Allied Matters Act is about Right of attendance at general meeting. It is under Chapter 10 (Meetings and Proceedings of Companies) of the Act.

(1) Subject to section 252 of this Act, every member has a right to attend any general meeting of the company in accordance with the provisions of section 107.

(2) In the case of joint holders, the vote of the senior joint holder who tenders a vote, whether in person or by proxy, shall be accepted to the exclusion of the votes of the other joint holders, and for this purpose seniority is determined by the order in which the names stand in the register of members.

(3) A member of unsound mind, or in respect of whom an order has been made by any court having jurisdiction in lunacy, may vote, whether on a show of hands or on a poll, by his committee, receiver, curator bonis, or other person in the nature of a committee, receiver or curator bonis appointed by
that court, and any such committee, receiver, curator bonis or other person may vote by proxy.
