Section 49 Nigerian National Health Act 2014

Section 49 National Health Act

Section 49 National Health Act 2014 is about Use of Tissue, Blood or Blood products removed or withdrawn from living persons. It is under Part VI (Control of Use of Blood, Blood Products, Tissue and Gametes in Humans) of the Act.

(1) Subject to the provision of section 52 of this Act, a person shall use tissue removed or blood ora blood product withdrawn from a living person only for such medical or dental purposes as may be prescribed.

(2) A person who contravenes or fails to comply with the provisions of this section commits an offence and liable on conviction in the case of —
(a) tissue, a fine of N1,000,000 or imprisonment of not less than two years or both; and
(b) blood or blood products, a fine of N100,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or both.
