Section 58 Electricity Act 2023

Section 58 of the Electricity Act 2023 is about Powers of the auditors. It is under Part V (Establishment, Functions and Powers of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission) of the Act.

(1) The auditor shall be entitled at all reasonable times to require to be produced to him all accounts and other records relating to such accounts which are kept by the Commission or its agents and to require from any Commissioner or employee or agent of the Commission such information and explanations as in the auditor’s
opinion are necessary for the purposes of their audit.

(2) Any Commissioner or employee or agent of the Commission who fails without just cause to comply with 4 requirement of an auditor under subsection (1), commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not more than N200,000 or imprisonment for a term not more than three months or both.
