Section 39 VAPP 2015

Section 39 of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015 is about Prohibition of publication of certain information. It provides as follows:

(1) No person shall publish in any manner any information which might, directly or
indirectly, reveal the identity of any party to the proceedings.

(2) The Court, if it is satisfied that it is in the interest of justice, may direct that any
further information relating to proceedings held under this Act shall not be published provided that no direction under this subsection applies ini respect of the publication of a bona fide law report which does not mention the names or reveal the identities of the parties to the proceedings or of any witness at such proceedings.

(3) A person who contravenes the provisions of this subsection commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a term imprisonment not exceeding 1 year or to a fine not exceeding N200,000.00 or both.
